Fourth Of July Traffic Mirrors Record 2019 Numbers
ORLANDO, FL. – When looking at the projected number of passengers coming to Orlando International Airport (MCO) for the 13-day Fourth of July travel period, it is very similar to the holiday numbers from 2019. In total, some 1.7 million passengers are expected to arrive and depart, which is only 34,000 short of the 2019 record.
“Near record traffic this Fourth of July is an early indicator that the summer of 2022 promises to be extremely busy at Orlando International,” says Kevin Thibault, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “A combination of new routes and new airlines will help fuel even more growth in the months to come.”
Breeze Airways with service to Charleston began Friday, while Avelo starts air service to Baltimore next week.
The busiest travel days during this period will be Saturday, July 2 and today, Saturday, June 25, when nearly 146,000 passengers will arrive and depart MCO each day.
Basic holiday travel tips:
- Do not carry weapons into security.
