Travel Remains A Top Choice As Visitor Totals Continue To Climb In April At Orlando International Airport
ORLANDO, FL. – The ability to travel remains an important option for domestic and international travelers. With the further easing of COVID-19 testing requirements for international travelers, Orlando International Airport (MCO) is expecting to see even more passengers who have placed travel to Orlando and Central Florida as a top choice, even with global inflation and record fuel costs. In April, Orlando International Airport (MCO) recorded 4.3 million arrivals and departures, which is a 31.5 percent increase over last year.
“With the easing of COVID travel restrictions on international traffic, we should see our international passenger volume regaining a lot of what was lost during the pandemic,” says Kevin Thibault, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “These solid April numbers show the importance that domestic and international business and leisure travelers have placed on travel, even during challenging economic times.”
The April numbers were aided by strong Easter holiday traffic. Along with passenger growth, April also saw continued development of goods and cargo moving through MCO. Year to date, Orlando International has seen a 10 percent increase in cargo shipments over 2021.
