Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Ms. Belinda Kirkegard to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Board
ORLANDO, FL. – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced the appointment of Ms. Belinda Kirkegard to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Board (GOAA).
Ms. Kirkegard, of Kissimmee, is the Economic Development Director for the city of Kissimmee. She was named the Orlando Business Journal’s 2019 Women Who Mean Business Executive of the Year and serves on the Board of Directors of the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando and the AdventHealth Central Florida Division. Ms. Kirkegard also served as Director of Hispanic Outreach for the Republican Party of Florida. Kirkegard earned her bachelor’s degree in public administration and political science from the University of Central Florida and her master of public administration from Troy State University.
Ms. Kirkegard will fill the final vacant board seat and serve the unexpired term of a required appointment of a citizen from Osceola County previously filled by Domingo Sanchez. She will work with other board members to oversee and help set policy for both airports operated by the Aviation Authority: Orlando International Airport, Florida’s busiest commercial service airport and Orlando Executive Airport, one of Florida’s busiest general aviation airports.
Ms. Kirkegard is expected to assume her duties in time for the next regularly scheduled GOAA board meeting on August 18th.
Aviation Authority Board members are not compensated for their service and all gubernatorial appointees are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
