ORLANDO, FL. – Orlando International Airport (MCO) is expected to be one of the busiest airports in the country this upcoming Thanksgiving holiday travel season says Orbitz.com. Orlando ranks number seven ahead of Newark, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Atlanta.
“We are expecting a five percent increase in traffic this Thanksgiving holiday travel period compared to last year,” says Phil Brown, Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “That five percent increase will put us at over 1.3 million travelers for the holiday which means if you’re flying you should arrive early and expect the terminal to be very busy.”
For the busy 13-day travel period starting Thursday November 19 – Tuesday December 1, the busiest day will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving and the lightest travel day will be Thanksgiving Day.

- Saturday, November 28 – 110,567 total passengers
- Saturday, November 21 – 110,242 total passengers
- Monday, November 30 – 109,275 total passengers
- Sunday, November 29 – 108,195 total passengers
- Friday, November 20 -104,449 total passengers
The travel website ranks the busiest cities as: Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, Boston, New York JFK, Orlando, Newark, Dallas Fort-Worth and Atlanta.
