ORLANDO, FL. – A busy 2015 holiday travel season is expected at Orlando International Airport and picking up arriving passengers will be much easier this year. The North Cell Phone Lot officially opened this morning. The new facility offers drivers a convenient place to park and wait for their party to call when they are ready for pick-up. This is in addition to the South Cell Lot that has been in place since 2006.

Located just north of the airport’s Main Terminal on Jeff Fuqua Boulevard (SR 436), the North Cell Lot was designed to be customer-friendly with the following amenities:

  • 200 parking spaces
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Flight Information monitors
  • Electrical Access
  • Restroom facilities
  • Landscaped retention pond
  • Pet Relief area with waste bag dispensers
  • Easy access to Terminals A & B

“We want the travel experience at Orlando International Airport to be as stress-free as possible for all of our customers,” says Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “We hope this new state-of-the-art facility will exceed their demands by reducing or eliminating circling time while waiting for passengers to arrive.”

With increasing passenger traffic, the North Cell Lot will also address the airport’s capacity issues by alleviating the volume of vehicles at the curbs and on the roadways.

This project is part of the airport’s $1.1 billion capital improvement program which includes new terminal ticket lobbies, baggage system enhancements, a South Airport Automated People Mover complex and Intermodal Terminal Facility.
